Public Lectures

Through museum tours and public lectures ranging from the use of minerals to the basics of geochronology, I've had the opportunity to share some of the fascinating aspects of geology. Because of these opportunities, I'm glad to have had the chance to interact with over 1,000 members of the general public. Here, you can find an example of a recent "remote" lecture about geochronology.

Field Excursions

I have also had the opportunity, partnering with the Rutgers Geology Museum, to lead field excursions for the general public. The photo to the right is an example, where participants learn about the geology and ecology of the Raritan River aboard the RV Rutgers, while also participating in citizen science. Prior to boarding, I provided a 15 minute (~500 Myr) recap of the area’s geologic history. These brief lectures need to be understandable for a diverse group of individuals (e.g. ages ranging from 10-75).
